History: Those crop circles you often see at farms? Turns out, aliens did it. Really passive ones, too. Supposedly here for an invasion, their crafts have been appearing in the sky, and their troops are walking around everywhere, sending the U.S. into a panic. For a former preacher's family though, it's all a matter of survival...even if that proves to be not much of a challenge...

Final Fate: After the military sends the invaders packing, a previously trapped one attacks the family. But wait! It turns out that water is acid to them...this invasion was doomed from the start. It gets burned to death by H2O, and we're led to believe that the victory was a blessing from God. Okay, fine. You be you.

Powers/Abilities: These aliens can emit a poisonous gas to kill enemies.

Weakness: Anything conventional, but water is acid to them FOR SOME REASON.

Scariness Factor: 1.5-You are an alien. You want to take over a planet. So which one do you go to? If your pick is a planet that does not in fact have puzzling inferior technology, hostile folk on it, or an element that scalds you on contact and happens to be more than 70% of that planet, then you are immediately smarter than these unremarkable aliens. Their idiocy serves as a cautionary tale.

Trivia: -It is possible that Shyamalan got his inspiration for this film from the Hopkinsville Goblin incident of 1955, in which a rural family was menaced by small otherworldly-looking creatures for the night.

-This film, along with "The Ring", was the main focus of the horror film spoof, "Scary Movie 3". You know the original is in a stupidity class of its own when Charlie Sheen is questioning the intelligence of the invaders, especially in accordance to wooden doors.
